What is Solar VIC?

Solar VIC is a government financial incentive program for households and commerce in the state of Victoria, Australia, who wish to install solar photovoltaic panels on their installations. The main objective of the program is to reduce household dependence on conventional energy sources and encourage the transition to renewable energy.

This government initiative is designed to help Victorian businesses reduce their energy costs and access the many benefits of renewable energy, in this case, solar energy.

Eligible residents  can receive a government grant to cover part of the cost of installing solar panels and can access interest-free loans to cover the remainder of the cost.

To be eligible for the Solar Homes program, residents must meet certain criteria, such as owning a home and having an annual household income below a certain threshold.

There is also a limit on the number of grants available each year.

Eligible households in Victoria can receive a rebate for the installation of solar panels (PV) and hot water systems, allowing them to save even more with solar energy. If they wish, eligible households can also apply for a rebate for the installation of a solar battery, depending on their needs.

In addition, eligible homeowners who are building a home can apply for a rebate for the installation of solar panels (PV), allowing them to start saving with solar as soon as they move in.

Find an authorized retailer and get a quotation

After our first contact, we will evaluate your needs and create a written quotation.

Remember not to give money in exchange for a quote, invest in deposits or pay to review eligibility confirmation.

Obtain approval of the Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP)

Once the eligibility of your home or facility is confirmed, the DNSP will determine if the solar panels already installed or the solar battery can be connected to the grid, or if the needs of the site require other actions.

Before any action, you should check if the retailer has given prior approval and if there are any import duty restrictions.

Get your eligibility number and qr-code

Upon confirmation of eligibility, Solar Victoria designates a unique eligibility number and a qr code that the installer scans for installation.

Without a number or qr code, the installation cannot proceed.

If the property in question is under construction, and you cannot be present on the day of installation, you should probably send the qr code to the installer.

At the end of the installation

You must pay the retailer the agreed amount, this amount must already have the reimbursement, loan, and deductions.

After completion, you will receive an email from Solar Victoria with interest free loan repayment information, if the plan you have applied for requires it.
